Privacy Policy

Table for James (tableforjames.com), operated by Table for James LLC · Effective July 26, 2026

The short version: Table for James was built by a celiac dad for families like his own. We don't run ads, we don't sell data, and the most sensitive things you put in the app — your child's name and your family's health log — never leave your device.

What stays on your device only

These are stored in your browser's local storage on your own phone or computer. They are never sent to our servers, and we cannot see them:

Because this data lives only on your device, clearing your browser's site data deletes it permanently.

What you share with the community

Table for James is a community app. When you choose to post, these are stored in our database and visible to other users:

You can edit or delete your own reviews, reports, photos, questions, and answers in the app at any time.

Your account

Signing in is optional. If you sign in (with Google or an email link), we store your email address for authentication through our database provider, Supabase. Your email is never displayed publicly, never used for marketing without your consent, and never sold. To delete your account and its data, email hello@tableforjames.com.

Notifications

If you turn notifications on, we store a push subscription token for your device (tied to your account if you're signed in). We use it for exactly three things: FDA gluten recalls, answers to questions you asked, and newly opened celiac clinical trials. Nothing else, ever. Turning notifications off in the app removes the subscription.

Photos you scan with AI

When you photograph an ingredient label or a restaurant menu for the AI reader, the photo is sent to our server function and to our AI provider (Anthropic) to transcribe the text, then the result is returned to you. We do not keep these scanned photos. (Photos you separately choose to upload to a restaurant's page are community content, as above.)

Services the app talks to

To do its job, the app uses a small set of service providers, each receiving only what's needed for that feature:

What we don't do

Children

Table for James is designed for parents and caregivers, not for use by young children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The child's-name feature exists so the app feels personal — that name stays on your device and is never transmitted to us.

Not medical advice

Table for James provides community-sourced information and convenience tools. It is not a medical device and never a substitute for the advice of your physician or dietitian. Always double-check product labels and confirm restaurant practices directly.

Changes & contact

If this policy changes materially, we'll note it here with a new effective date. Questions, or want your data removed? Email hello@tableforjames.com — a real person (James's dad) reads it.
